Appendix B: Thumbnail URLs
URLS for thumbnails must have the structure http://enc.slq.qld.gov.au/[contributor code]/tnl/[filename]b.jpg where:-
http://enc.slq.qld.gov.au is the State Library server on which the image files are stored;
-
contributor code is the contributor’s NUC symbol, from the Australian interlibrary resource sharing directory [new page http://www.nla.gov.au/apps/ilrs]. If the contributor does not have a NUC symbol then use “patron barcode stem” managed by the State Library of Queensland’s Public Library Service and detailed in the table below.
-
tnl is the directory containing thumbnail images;
-
file name consists of:
-
-
the contributor’s NUC symbol followed by a sequential running number padded to 5 digits.
-
If there is no NUC symbol, begin your file names with the three letter code assigned below followed by a sequential running number padded to 5 digits. This code is assigned by the State Library.
-
So that there is no possible risk of duplication in file names, please ensure that you contact the State Library before naming your files.
For example:-
the URL of the 1st thumbnail image for Hervey Bay Library is http://enc.slq.qld.gov.au/qhbp/tnl/qhbp00001b.jpg
-
the URL of the 2nd thumbnail image for Hervey Bay Library is http://enc.slq.qld.gov.au/qhbp/tnl/qhbp00002b.jpg
-
the URL of the 10th thumbnail image for Hervey Bay Library is http://enc.slq.qld.gov.au/qhbp/tnl/qhbp00010b.jpg
Note: The six contributors who participated in the Picture Queensland Outreach pilot project have a different filing convention to subsequent contributors.
