Outreach training
About the training
As part of the Queensland Memory - Outreach project, State Library delivers image digitisation training to Queensland cultural organisations. The digitisation workshops are delivered over two days and use the State Library of Queensland’s standards and guidelines for digital capture and indexing, which comply with industry best practice. The training covers general issues involved with digitisation projects. These informative and interactive workshops are designed to help people working with collecting organisations and those planning digitisation projects.
Topics covered include:
- Digitisation project planning
- Hardware and software requirements
- Selecting images for digitisation (including copyright)
- Scanning and editing digital images
- Cataloguing digital images
- Digital and photographic preservation
Attending the training
Staff and volunteers from Queensland cultural organisations, including public libraries, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community organisations, local history groups, museums and galleries, are invited to attend the training, particularly if they are planning, implementing or considering an image digitisation project. Sessions are limited to 10 participants each, so book early to avoid disappointment.Training schedule
