Burdekin Shire Council Library
A half hour drive south of Townsville, you enter the sugar and mango plantations of the Burdekin Shire. The Burdekin Shire Library Service consists of two libraries, the Burdekin Library (Ayr) and the Home Hill Branch Library.
The Libraries' Local History Collection includes:
- microfilm copies of local newspapers (Ayr Advocate, Home Hill Observer and Port Dennison Times);
- shipping records on microfiche;
- local historic photographic collection of approximately 1,200 images;
- minute books from local organisations; and
- local topographical maps.
The Burdekin Library hours are:
- Tuesday, Wednesday - 10:30am to 5:30pm
- Thursday - 12noon to 7pm
- Friday - 10:30am to 5:30pm
- Saturday - 9am to 4pm
The Home Hill Branch Library hours are:
- Monday, Tuesday - 1pm to 5pm
- Wednesday - 10am to noon, 2pm to 4pm
- Thursday - 1pm to 6pm
- Friday - 1pm to 5pm
- Saturday - 9am to 12noon
