Downloading Jigsaw Puzzles

To reduce download times, the jigsaw puzzles are provided as a self-extracting zip file. There are three jigsaw themes - scenic, food and transport. Each theme has 3 jigsaw puzzles - easy (12 piece jigsaw), medium (20 piece jigsaw) and hard (30 piece jigsaw).

All jigsaw files are Flash [.swf] files. Most recent browsers will automatically display SWF content without your having to install a new plug-in. However, if your browser can't display the SWF files, then you will have to use Flash or Shockwave Player. If you don't already have one of these Players installed on your computer then you can download it for free from the Macromedia Website [New window http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/alternates/]. Just follow Macromedia's instructions for downloading and installing the software.

To download the Picture Queensland jigsaw puzzles:

  1. Click the PictureQldJigsaws file.
  2. When asked if you would like to "Open the file or save it to your computer" click on the Save button (or the radio button next to Save and then OK). Save the file anywhere on your hard drive (c: drive). The file name is PictureQldJigsaws.exe.
  3. A message box will appear telling you that the download is complete (or finished). Click Open (or Launch file).
  4. Choose (browse to) a folder in which to extract your files.
[Tip: create your folder before you start the download process.]
  5. Click Unzip.
  6. A message will appear telling you that the file(s) have been unzipped successfully. Click OK.
  7. Click Close.
  8. The puzzles are now ready to be played. You can open any one of the 9 Flash (.swf) files in your browser or else use Explorer to locate your file and then double click on it to launch the puzzle.

To play the jigsaw puzzles:

  1. Click on any one of the puzzle files Flash [.swf] files.

Note: You will find 3 directories called "Gallery" with your Flash files. The sole purpose of the Gallery directories is to hold the puzzle images. You do not have to do anything with these directories but they are needed for the games to operate correctly.

When you finish the puzzles, you might like to try the memory game or learn more about the images used in the jigsaws.
